These are my latest 3 all bought at bloody good prices I know the Sierra Leone coins aren't in fantastic grades but considering the scarcity and the price you can't go wrong plus this cent piece is in a higher grade than my current one :)

    More 2013's

I expected the Maple Leaf to be the same old Maple Leaf, just a new date. But the Britannia? They usually change it up every other year, almost looks like the same die as the 2012. :foot-mouth:

That "Standing Britannia" is the default design so to say. In the first years of the silver version, that design was used in the even years (1998, 2000, 2002, etc.) while in the odd years (1997, 1999, 2001 ...) they would use different designs.

A few years ago that "rhythm" changed, and between 2007 and 2011 the Standing Britannia was not used. Don't ask me why. :) 2012 was a "jubilee" (25th anniversary of the first gold Britannia) by the way.

One difference is not visible but maybe important for some: Until last year, the Britannia coins were Ag925 (silver) and Au9167 (gold). Now the silver piece is Ag999, and the gold Britannia is Au9999 ...

Bought a few Canadian large cents today. Well these and a 1874 Newfoundland half - no pictures of it just yet.

    Picked up a couple Canadian 50c, 1964 and 1966:
    1964 1966 Canada 50c obv.jpg
    1964 1966 Canada 50c rev.jpg

None of my other Canadian silver coins are anywhere as close to uncirculated as these two are, so I was not expecting the mirror finish on the fields! Kinda bummed about the big smear on the obverse of the '66, but it's in stellar shape otherwise. The '64 has small nicks and dings all over (bag marks, probably), but is still in good shape and has some interesting toning going on.

:stormy:Well....there comes a time when a counterfeit is so good and the weight, dimensions and alloy are perfect. That it becomes the real thing.

This is getting to be common place. I'm getting wiped out a lot of times even though I have bid way over value.

This little guy arrived today. It's about the same size as a USA half-dime (really small!).
