Anyone else notice the recent uptick in raw Isabella quarters appearing on Ebay??

I've been looking for one to buy and often search through Ebay looking for one. I've been searching for awhile at least a few months looking for the right coin to pop up at the right time. Recently though I've noticed that the number of raw coins popping up just seems unusual. Especially for a coin with such a low mintage number; 24,214 according to the Redbook. I've also noticed quite a few coins originating from China these past few weeks. I've been reporting these to Ebay and many do get removed. It makes me think though that the Chinese have been busy producing counterfeits of this particular coin and some unscrupulous U.S. based sellers are buying these coins and passing them off on Ebay as authentic.

While most get flagged on eBay, it is undoubtedly happening on eBay and elsewhere.

The lesson to collectors to seriously consider purchasing valuable coins like the Isabella Quarter in first-tier TPG slabs....preferably conservatively graded. :)

All the gray/lusterless/lifeless examples are either cleaned or counterfeit. There's way too many of these on there to be special, which is unfortunate.

If you can't see the raw coin in hand then you must (most assuredly) pass........

My first thought when I read the title is a mass inclux of counterfeits. It appears that is the case.
