This 1942 50 centimes from France is tough to ID.... is it KM# 914.1 OR 914.4? How do you tell the difference?

Then, I just like the toning on this 1940 Australia penny. Nice condition too; what grade would you give it?

914.1 has a thick flan. 914.4 has a thin flan. I guess you would have to compare several to find both varieties.
Mine is thin compared to my example of the 1941, which also was made in thick and thin. Don't have any specs.

    nice coins

My Krause doesn't give the weight for either. :( mine is 0.8 grams. What should the weights be? I find I have to write in a lot of info in this book :(

flan = planchet, right? :) Thanks for the compliments ! Guess I'll have to get some more some time (c'mon tax refund!) :)

Same as mine, .8g. Only clue I could find is that 914.4 was a Paris minted coin. The Cornucopia privy mark on the reverse identifies it as Paris. Based on that I conclude that we both have the 914.4 variety, until someone can come up with a specification on the weight difference. Values are same so it really doesn't matter anyway.

Thank you. I guess I was confused because the written descriptions for both varieties say no mint mark. I know the values are the same but, when it comes ID that kind of stuff can eat at me all day until I figure it out. :)
