How dedicated a collector are you if you're like me you "eat sleep and breathe" coins. Coins really controlls almost every aspect of my life. How much coin collecting is to much?:loud:
Purely depends on what you like to do with your resources. Some people collect just about everything, some specialize in things like coins and many people don't collect anything. Many people do not have any hobbies of any kind. I know a few and they just ahve nothing to do and are just waiting around to die I guess. As to coins, there are so many types of collectors it is difficult to try to even imagine the varieties. As for me I'm a collector of just to much stuff. I collect coins, stamps, flashlights, hot wheel cars, real cars, knives, spears, swords, computer equipment and just about everything else. As to how much is to much, like I said it all depends on how far you want to go with any hobby.
I don't think there can be such a thing as an overdose---now there can be that time when I have withdrawl to coins---there was the time when I didn't get to go to the coin store for about 4 weeks.... that was really bad! tut tut---I had a girl tell me the other day that there aint no such word as aint---to tell you the truth....I told her that there was and she aint to tell me again Speedy
Much like other addictions, if it is affecting any area of your life in a negative way, then you may be going to far. I personally, am very addicted to coins. But I still make time to go to work, spend time with family, watch my beloved Cardinals lose to the Mets, etc. So, its all good.
Yeah, I'm hooked! I no longer tip the Dunkin lady because I want the change back for inspection I currently have over $300 in change that needs to get back into my bank account from roll searching I ask my kids to bank exchange their allowance with me so I can have the coins My husband automatically gives me all his change He knows I want coins for my birthday instead of jewelery Nothing is better than spreading out my collection and just browsing and rearranging I have a microscope just for coin research I wash as many white cotton gloves as I do socks I'm on Coin-Talk more than CNN I don't care that every non-collector thinks I'm odd A-:thumb:
I would say that if it interferes with school, that is too much. It's also healthy to have at least one other big interest in life to switch back and forth between, maybe a sport you like to play.
"How dedicated a collector are you if you're like me you "eat sleep and breathe" coins. Coins really controlls almost every aspect of my life. How much coin collecting is to much?" Coin collecting is to much when: When coin collecting becomes more important than the relationship with your wife/girlfriend; your children; your job and your ability to provide for your family the basic needs of food, shelter and utilities ..it's time to step back and take a look at what you are doing. Not only to yourself but how your actions are effecting your loved ones. Unless you are in denial and then only after you've lost everything will you truely know when it is to much.
Coin collecting is an aspect of my life but not my life. but for those who coin collecting is a passion are lucky for think of the many who live life passionless.
I detest vending machines, except when I'm looking under them. Why you ask, because they try to eat my coins. I try to save good coins from the bad people at my huge workplace from feeding the machines, by changing their coins out for not so collectable ones, if they have any. I work change machines hours on end. Wish I worked at a bank. Pick up every coin I see no matter the trouble. Spend way to much on coins that I cannot even believe it. Wow, I better stop soon, I own two metal detectors, I have a seperate desk area just for coins, The only thing I dislike about getting new coins is carrying the box out to put them in. Chances are there is a coin on every surface in my house. Well, you get the Idea...
Well, STL won the world series last night... I wish I could give everyone on cointalk a coin in celebration, but I'll have to settle with just buying one for myself.
