Hello all. I've been trying to find this coin for under $200 but it's been tough. Does anyone have any leads? It must be a counter mark of the same type. Thanks

I see them on eBay at times Swervo, but I've never noticed how much they sell for. I'd keep your eye open for one there.

Its a British 5 shillings countermark of George III. See KM 634. :)

$200? I would doubt that would happen, but more power to you if you can find it.

Personally, I am looking for 8 reales from the mid 19th century countermarked in Thailand if anyone ever sees one for sale.

I doubt you would ever find that coin under $200.

Oh well, one could only hope. Saw it yesterday on eBay for 202 with auction still going but I didn't bid. Medora If I am thinking of the right coin I see those often on eBay. I'll let you know if I come across one again.

You'll want to be careful. There are a lot fakes of that coin out there.

I've said it so many times I am almost hoarse from saying it - you only want to buy from trusted and respected sellers. And an ebay feedback rating does not make one trusted and respected !

Thanks for the advice. I went to the ny coin show at the Waldorf hotel today and learned a lot. These coins usually sell for over 1000 in good condition. eBay is far from being a reliable source and it is always better to see a coin in person. I'm going to look into local dealers from now on. I wish this coin show would be around for longer.
