I picked this up last week unattributed. It is graded NGC MS63BN. This coin is quite peculiar, as there is woodgrain streaking on both sides, yet it is still very lustrous. I believe this is the S-4 RPD, which in my understanding, is quite scarce. I looked up NGC's census report for this variety and they have attributed/graded only 10 coins with this RPD. The more common S-3 variety has almost 300 graded and attributed in all grades. Is my attribution correct? What would this coin be worth? Thanks, RR
You might want to check Rick Snows website. I am not sure if he keeps prices for varieties, but I think he does keep other pricing information. You might also see one on his site to give you an idea of the retail value. Just a thought.
Thanks Mark, He did have one in MS63RB that sold for $1,250. He does not list prices for varieties outside of the more common S-3 for this date.
I don't have my books with me to confirm the variety, but if it is then nice find. The only rare variety I found was the 1882 snow-2 which I sent to him to sell. Worked out good for me.
