What is the best holders for world / foreign coins?

I'm really tempted to stick all my foreign coins in cardboard 2x2 flips. Though I like the airtite holders, looking at my collection I now realize I need so many odd sizes. I am also planning on getting some ancient coins and I don't think these will fit in airtites either. The only other alternative would be the SafTflips, which I'm not a fan of.

Does anyone here really go out of their way to order all those odd size airtite holders? I feel its too time consuming to search them out. Any advice or if you have any better ideas, please post them.

Sure you order the airtites by their size in mm. Its not so hard. :hail:

When buying airtite i prefer the foam rings over direct fits since they allow for some tolerance of few mm in the size (where as the coin might get stuck in the direct fit especially if you live in cold climates')

Thanks, looks like I'm going to be getting a bunch of airtites again. Does anyone know if ancient coins will fit in airtites?

Ancients have such variability in sizing, meaning many are not round. If you had every mm size they made they might work.

Why are so against flips? Many/most of us love them sine we can take the coins out when we wish.

Us ancient guys sure love to touch our coins. :)

I have fat fingers :D so its not the easiest for me to put a coin in or take it out without possibly messing up the flip. (Ok, they're not really that fat)

Guess I'm more accustomed to not touching the surface of coins with my fingers. Won't touching the surface leave traces of oil and damage them?

I put all my coins in 2x2s. Most of them don't fit exactly but I don't see any reason why they need to be so snug.

After what our coins have gone through? No.

But seriously, ours are already cleaned and age creates a hardened surface. We can touch all we like, unlike wimpy modern coins.

Greek coins, btw may not work with airtites. Too thick.

Airtites are just as easy to open, and you don't have to staple them again afterward and use another flip, or try to line up the staple holes on the original flip. :)

I use saf t flips and no staples. Some coins i have taken out 100 times or more. Why staple a flip?

I guess the safTflips will do then. I have two packs thats been laying around forever, might as well put them to use.

    Thanks Medoraman.

I use 2x2s for my US coins and flips for my ancients. I like to play with my oldies, but the US & world modern coin stay safe
