Nah, these ATB’ have the advantage of being part of a popular circulating series that isn’t circulating yet – so, demand could go ballistic . I collect and speculate and have made a lot doing so. Not all are winners, but many are.
That's stretching it far though. The more you buy, the more they mint thus making them less rare and valuable.
Last I checked, they can't mint more 2012 coins in 2013 and they did state they're done minting 2012's - but, then, it's the mint.
But that's the thing though, they didn't set them out in the wild to be circulated. Most people who buy them will hoard them, never to be circulated. The demand really isn't there now for them, I doubt it will be there any time in the near future unless you start introducing more and more people into coin collecting who want these specific coins in their collections. That's why I say, they'll be worthy down the stretch (but not likely any time soon), when old collectors die off, new collectors are born and the new collectors want them in their collections.
Oh, my Kennedy halves are long gone; for an immense amount of effort, I might have made $50, plus I tied up a lot of capital that could have been better deployed. You have to figure opportunity costs into these equations too -- buy something now, you can't buy something else next week.
that's what I figured, but if they can't ship till the 23rd and it doesn't say sold-out... I'm assuming they don't have any left on-site (hint hint)... This would worry me a bit if I were planning to buy a bunch of them
Well yeah, growing any market would be an optimal progression for that market. The advantage of these ATB’s is the market is already there, yet the market doesn’t know they exist. 9 out of 10 that come into the shop don’t know about them and 3 out of 10 wind up buying a few P&D’s at a buck a piece when they learn about them.
I don't think you can draw that conclusion with these rolls - it took 2 weeks to get my order. I don't think these rolls are a priority for the mint.
I ordered some the middle of last week and they shipped mine Monday. (one roll each of the 4 remaining available "S" rolls at the time)
Thanks for doing your part. Shouldn't be much longer before they're sold out, Then I can cherrypick the higher grades and dump the rest on eBay, probably for enough profit to pay for all and then some.
Keep it up and I may just have to order somes rolls just so I can say...........I told you so. We would be forever bound in wholy acrimony!
True, but cost a lot more to acquire a quantity - maybe more bang for your buck with the S-mint business strikes.
Just out of curiosity ,what if someone found an error coin in the S clad ATB quarters. Most are in rolls and bags. Do we start tearing them open or sell them as a chance there could be an error in one them?
The two questions to be asked in flipping quarters: Which strategy will double my money first? [and] How can I minimize transaction costs while making my profit?
You open all the bags or rolls and look at all the quarters and advertise that you have inspected all pieces for blemishes and imperfections...
