Hey could anyone give me any insight about this coin? I've had it over three years now and have yet to find any info on it. thanks. IMAG0056.jpg IMAG0056.jpg IMAG0053.jpg IMAG0052.jpg IMAG0051.jpg IMAG0050.jpg View attachment 227288

i am surprised nobody has spoken up on this. perhaps you'll get more answers in the error forum. i think it may be deterioration of the die. i have only recently learned about but gives the impression of a double die when in reality it is the die just getting old

Pretty interesting but the pics are way too fuzzy to determine anything. Any way we could get clearer pics of the whole obverse? And not from an angle?

You would get more (and better) responses if you could provide us with GOOD photos. Your photos are dark and out of focus. Shining a little light on the coin when you photograph it would go a long way.

A lot of times, especially with low-luster coins, you can get a better image from a cheap scanner than you can with an expensive camera.

Set your scan area to 2 x 2 inches, 600dpi, and adjust the midtones as necessary. This is an 1897-O, by the way.
