Hi all. I used to collect coins, but only the rare variety along time ago. Now that the kids have those I've been going through some buckets I had leftover looking for error coins. For some reason they fascinate me lol. Anyway, I' 50 miles from the closest coin dealer so I might bug the experts here a little. I am new to error coin collecting but have been doing a lot of reading etc. trying to learn. So here is my first post with Pictures. It's a 1944 S Lincoln Cent. I cannot find any eveidence of sanding polishing scratching etc. to remove the first 4 in 1944. It is barely evident that its there and I have read about "Greaser" as I see them called around here. I cannot find anything about this "error" or whatever it is so thought I'd ask. It seems if it was normal wear it would also be reflected in the surounding area but it's not. Any Ideas on what it could be and possible value/ i know 44's are everywhere but what the heck Thanx in advance!
Guess I should've posted missing number in my search lol. Yes it looks Like a Grease filled die, I've just not seen one yet in middle numbers just usually the end number.
