Reason i posted this was to get everyone opinion on them, I think they are really nice and do you see them being profitable some day?
I like them when I see them in change but had not considered collecting them. Collecting any coins for profit is a crap-shoot. Please don't censor that word.
To the first question, yes - I like them - very cool, and own a set of MS/Proof for my collecting pleasure. I really like the micro-sets (Westward Journey, Lincoln, even the 1976 bicentenials). To the second question, no - I think very few modern coins have true upside potential, given the mintage quantities, the size of the numismatic community/number of collectors, and the preservation options. This isn't to say they shouldn't be collected and enjoyed, but that after you take into account the face value, your costs to collect them, the transaction costs to realize the profit, and the opportunity costs (what else you could have done with those funds), most modern circulation coins are not likely to be profitable.
I have 20,000 UNC's in rolls, tubes and bags. Do I think they will be profitable? Perhaps, if I ever decide to search them and find a few with FDR on the obverse. Chris
yea i really like any thing bicentennial i really like the half dollar that year the quarter is my second for that year
Agreed - I like the bicentenials, and I know they're as common as dog droppings in the park, but I pull evey bi-centenial I see.
I like them, but they were minted in huge numbers and were very heaily advertised by the mint and nearly every other broker of modern coins. Way to many of these wer put away for them to ever carry much of a premium.
My wife loves the buffalo nickels from 05. We have a box($100) of the D mints unsearched. I've tried to tell her we should keep a few and sell/exchange the rest. She's still thinking bout it after 2 years. I love the 1976 quarters. Pull everyone I get. Just filled my first roll.
I really like the 2005 buffalo also. In fact, I think it would be a fitting replacement for the Monticello reverse. I think looking at that building for 70 years (or so) is more than enough.
It was a nice change of pace, I liked the designs, but they were "new" so everyone saved them. The best things to invest in are those things no one thinks of saving usually. Problem is, you don't know until its WAY too late to do anything about it, unless you are just an absolute hoarder. Even those guys never keep their hoards MS.
Jefferson's face on that westward journey nickel is better the 2006 to present nickel, what are you thoughts?
I really do like them, really. But for whatever reason, only the reverse.... I don't know why They are a neat series. -L
