I will be in the Twin Cities area next week and was wondering if there were any coin dealers in the area worth visiting. I will be there on business so visits to any dealers would probably be lunchtime or after hours, which I realize may limit any chance of going. There is a possible window on Friday afternoon before I catch my flight home.
ummtrr, Print this page out before you go.Looks like there are quite a few.Bon voyage! http://www.magicyellow.com/category/Coin_Dealers_Supplies/Minneapolis_St.Paul_MN.html
Much appreciate the listings link, and I will print it, but I was hoping for some personal experiences/recommendations...
Just to follow up... I'm back from my trip to the Twin Cities. I printed the list cited above for reference and also checked the phone book once I was out there. Unfortunately I had even less free time than I expected to and so the only place I managed to visit was Valley Coins in Golden Valley. I can't really give a review-- it would not be fair as they are getting ready to move to a much larger location than they have now, which will allow for more displays and more room. They told me they have about 10,000 coins listed on their website, but when I travel, I like to see things in person. A coin/antique store in Excelsior did not appear to be open when I drove by-- it was worth seeing that village though, kinda neat. Abe Lincoln's on Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis is either out of business or moved as the address given in the directory above is now a storefront church. That is the problem with Internet directories in general... many tend to be "set it and forget it" with no updates. Overall, I did have a successful visit out there but coins were not really part of the program. Perhaps next time!
I missed your post until too late. Most Dealers were at the South Saint Paul VFW for their monthly show. You also just missed the MOON show which was a week ago. good interesting stuff at the shows recently.
