I found a silver dime and I think it's an error.

    What's the problem with it?

Sorry. Don't think it's an error. I believe that you think it is an off center, but it isn't unless a portion of the design is missing.

Pictures are too far away to tell for certain, but I zoomed in and I think I see a possible RPM to the south. Is that what you are seeing?

I think you might have a RPM, can you get a 5x or 10x loupe in front of your camera lens and get a straight on shot?

If it is an RPM (which we cannot tell without better, close-up photos) it would be a variety, not an error.

Correct, RPMs are considered varieties because the issue occurs before the coin is struck. The same goes with doubled dies, transitional varieties, etc. Errors are mistakes that are made at the time the coin is struck, such as an off-center strike, a double struck coin, as well as many other errors.

    True. True. True. True. True.

Not necessarily. A clipped planchet occurs when the blank is punched out (not when the coin is struck) and it is considered an error.

I should have clarified, and expanded errors to include planchet errors. Varieties mainly have to do with the dies themselves, whereas errors have to do with the planchet and mistakes during striking.
