I have been a grumpy dude recently, as my left knee, which suffers from moderate to severe Osteoarthritis (yeah I know, too many sports in my youth) has consequently been awfully painful. To make a long story short, my doctor's scheduling service contacted me yesterday, and told me that he will do an arthroscopic procedure on it next Thursday, to make me considerably more comfortable (He calls it a "Spring Cleaning, removing some bone chips, and smoothing out bone and scar tissue). I asked how long the recovery period would be (as in, could I actually go to the show with a cane on Friday>??) and they said "are you kidding?" This is my 4th arthroscopy on my knees--third on this one, and one on the right. If it is anything like the previous ones, I will be somewhat restricted in my mobility for a week to two weeks. So, definitely NO FUN show for me this year. This is a shame, as I was looking forward to seeing y'all, and looking/buying? some great coins. However, my doc did have this opening, and his next available period would have been the end of February--not practical, given pain levels. So, sorry that I won't be able to see you folks and share some good times. Cancelled my reservation at no penalty, but am regretful of missing the show, and some new friends. Regards, Morgandude11 (David)
Sorry about your situation. I hope the surgery clears up the pain. Doesn't the venue for FUN have electric scooters/wheelchairs available for attendees?
I would find a new doctor.... one that appreciates the importance of the FUN show.... j/k... Sorry you can't make it.
Meh, the timing sure stinks, but look at it this way - the money you "saved" by cancelling can go towards more coins next year.. Good luck however with the procedure and subsequent recovery.
They do, but the pain would be considerable for the first few days, and it would be easier to sleep in my own bed. My wife will play nursemaid..yeah right. lol
SOrry to hear it David. It sucks having to miss out on a show you have been looking forward to. I have had business trips keep me from CICF, and trust me the whole office has known Chris is a little peeved about it. Look forward to next year with even renewed enthusiasm. That is what I tell myself.
That is too bad, David. I was looking forward to seeing some of your Morgan toners, and I think you would have enjoyed the NGC Luncheon. Well, we can always schedule it for next year. Chris
Anything I write here between Thursday and Friday should be taken with a grain of salt, as I am sure they will give me good drugs....lol
That is good news you can get this procedure done sooner. There will be plenty of future shows. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. TC
I can sure sympathize with ya as I have suffered with arthritis my entire life, to the point of disability now. The pain is considerable when standing for more than a few minutes, but I'll suffer through and attend the show anyway If I have to, I'll make Chris carry me around
I guess I'd better stop by the hospital and borrow a wheelchair. Better yet! Maybe I can get one of the battery-powered carts from Publix and ride it right out of the parking lot. Chris
:thumb:the twilight shot is the 1st 1 they gave me 1 time.but the wake up is not fun. I hope your back to 100% in a few days!!!!!.
Staying healthy and pain free is more important then a few coins. Though its not the same, you can always browse the internet for nice looking coins. Looking forward to some fun posts.
