...made a set for all unc, proof, and varieties - not that I'll ever complete it, but it's nice to have such a handy organizational site. I also think the eBay and Collector's Universe search engines are pretty slick.

You guys have whipped me into higher expectations for my collection, so there you have it. I'm happy with my Dansco album, but I'd like to do something more substantive. No doubt you'll have all sorts of warnings about this, but I'm all ears. :)

They have done the same for me. I started collecting again about 6 months ago, but was just buying bullion and junk silver. The more I read and post on this site the more interested I get in collecting coins for appeal than just bullion value.

I can't afford to worry about rank, which I guess is good, because I'm collecting the coins I actually like and not the slabs. So far I've only listed this one, which is only an MS64, but it's got decent color, and I got it for 10 bucks including s/h...

What a great way to organize the images also! Kudos to PCGS.

thecoinnection.com is better than PCGS for images although PCGS does a good job as well...

Actually, you are collecting the slabs since their registry excludes NGC. There will surely be a coin you like in a NGC slab that you will reject because of their registry's restrictions. I prefer the NGC registry since it allows both top tier TPGs.

I don't understand how the proof entries work though. I've got slots for p, d, and a DDO, but where's the slot for the proof?

    Nevermind - I found them.

Enjoy yourself. The registries can be very good tools for teaching others and for learning.

Careful here buddy! Before you know it, you'll be chasing MS70 this's and PR70 that's!

I don't really have the funds to chase those, and I'm happy with lower-grade toned pieces. I cut a deal with cremebrule for his 64d toner so it's on its way and I now have a grand total of (drum roll) two coins!

While the registry could be a fun thing to play around with. I think it limits a collection down to a bunch of slabs. There are plenty of good raw coins out there that may be better then slabbed coins. And make sure you still give the coin in the holder a good look. Just because its got that MS 69 or 70 on there doesn't truly mean the coin is in that great of a shape sometimes.
