Really!!! I still remember 1974. After a limited run of 1974-s cents were done and the price rose immediately to $5/roll, the mint director, Mary Brooks, announced she was appalled at the speculation, so she started up the presses again and made a normal run that killed the secondary market.
I don;t think our current mint director.........hey wait.........we don't have a mint director! Only a stand in! Whatever, he'll never even consider it as it does take some cajones tp pull something like that off!
I bought 5 of each roll as they were released. Then a complete set of all 5 rolls as soon as Denali came out that I still have unopened from the mint. I only bought 1 bag of Chaco's, I opened them and for kicks put about $10 worth into circulation in Northern California, so keep an eye out. I figure if someone finds one they might get into collecting, plus it lowers the amount of BU's a smidgen!
Could be. Maybe the mint made more El Yunque's because sales went past the initial run of 1.4m, but the others haven't sold more than 1.4m, so maybe they only made 1.4m of each of the others. Interesting how they didn't make many more than their initial stated amount of 1.4m. Remember that fiasco, when collectors were concerned there’d be an immediate sell out of 1.4m, so the mint came back and stated, that was just an initial run and they’d mint to demand for one year?
