Found this in a CWR tonight. It looks like a 1 has been punched over the 7. Wanted to get the thoughts of the forum members on if this is a RPD. I haven't been able to find anything on a 1971 RPD penny online, if this is a RPD do you think it is rare and has any value? Thanks for the help everyone.

Looks like damage. Keep in mind that there are no repunched date varieties on Lincoln cents.

Is it possible it could be a type of double die? The line over the 7 is definitely raised.

It looks like a layer of the 7 was scraped from right to left, and piled up. No, it is not a doubled die.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess my luck will just have to hold out until I find a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel or a 1936 Canadian Dot Penny. :D:D
