The third type is a subtlely different squarish hologram sticker. Yours is of the earlier version (1997-2000). The one used in late 2000-2001 is slightly larger and the corners are more rounded. The versions (as indexed by Conder101) are NGC version 6, 7, and 8.1. NGC 8 was used for about 4-6 weeks from August/September 2000.

In most use that I have seen, "fattie", "no-line", and "no-line fattie" are all synonyms. It implies are you noted that there is no dividing line separating the slab into two sections of the top (label) portion, and bottom (coin) portion.

Tough game to play if you cannot see the coin in person. I see wear on the same spot on all three photos of the coin. I am guessing they labeled it "cabinet friction" to give it the 64 grade. Its an extremely nice coin man, don't get me wrong. I am sure they would label the same high point wear cabinet friction on most coins of that era.

What you may think you are seeing, the grayish blue spotting, is actually tone. The 3rd pic shows the same spotting on the pope's hat, or beany or whatever you want to call it. The lines on the hat, the horizontal line along the entire edge or the bottom of the hat, are all higher relief than the fields of the hat where the blue tone is evident. It's just the way it is splashed on there that makes it easy to confuse with wear, especially since the hair locks in that same area are not well defined to begin with.

I believe you, I was just seeing wear on the hair detail halfway between the eye and the hat in each pic. Like I said, tough game to play, (at least for me), if I don't see the coin in hand. :(

Btw, going to CICF this year? I am thinking of going to the professional preview day. :D

You know, that's a very good question. My inclination is to say 'no' because I am still selling off coins to pay for that 1926 Albanian Franga (MS66 NGC) that I bought back in November. Doesn't make much sense to go when I am still paying off other coins. But you never know, might be a good excuse to come up and see my mom for a day or two like last year.

Well, go see your mother. Plus, its always worth it just to go, see coins, talk coins with people, and generally get all "coiny" for a day or so. You remember the pick group finds I had? I am hoping if I pay to go in early I can do even better this year. I am such a "deal" addict......
