    Right guys I'm
Still fairly new too this, about 6 month I've been collecting properly although I collected as a child and have almost always took strange coins out of circulation (new design, commoratives, Gibraltar, Isle of Man etc..) now when I hear die crack I am never sure what it is.. I have an east africa 1922 IIRC shilling which a trusted fella swapped me saying it was a die crack (I'm
Not disputing this) but I haven't seen another like this mentioned, it has a crack running more than half the distance of the coin but still maintains the design throughout the crack, my question is what is the proper definition of it and how does it occur other than worn dies ?

Great looking coin . To the op a die crack is exactly what it says . After long use the hard metal of the die begins to break leaving small cracks usually in lines , metal from the planchet pushes up where the die has broke thus you have a raised line on the coin , a die crack will always be raised .
