This seller's got a lot of clad Kennedy's from the 70's and 80's in mint cellos, and the majority of them are toned. Now I've been through enough mint sets to know that the coins in the wrappers can sometimes take on vivid toning, and none of the toning in his offerings looks artificial to me. The patterns and colors look like stuff I've seen before. However, what concerns me is that he has so much of it. If you scroll through his listings, and look at a few pages, you'll find lot after lot of coins toned in the mint wrap. Is he doctoring them up somehow? Or does he just have a lot of mint sets that were stored in humid conditions? Or some other kind of conditions that would have caused so many to tone? http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_sac...ve-a-nickel&_nkw=kennedy&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc
i don't think he is doctoring anything. i know i use to have tons of 80's mint sets and had a lot of nice toning on some coins. the ikes sometimes had a nice tone and i have a few susan b's. he just has a large amount and making more money selling the coins 1 by 1. i think you would be fine
I wouldn't worry about it. The toning looks natural. The seller could have been a Kennedy collector himself and now he thinks it's time to sell. Who knows? I think the concerns you have for this seller would be better suited for a seller who has various and multiple types of coins exhibiting the same colors/patterns of toning.
