saxon penny -please help identify

    i think that this is a penny of aethelred 11 978-1016 but i am a little baffled by the reverse-please help

    It's the Crux type, Spinks 1148/BMC IIIa. London is normally "LUNDO" on these issues, not "LUND".

    Yes - looks to be moneyer Aelfnoth of London. Mint seems to be down as "OLUND" instead of "LUNDO" - can't see any notes in North suggesting this alternative.
