Great job Cave. First time I have seen a religious set together. All HOLEY..... (pun) It really is a shame that some of those coins were speared, but, I see there is a great use for them now. Fantastic idea and congrats.... Watching here as I go through this latest purchase to see if there are any of them in it. If so I know where they are headed.

Very cool collection. I have a holed 1855 Lg Cent and found 2 holed halves in my last roll search, but I haven't run accross any other ones.

Interesting concept. Holed coins are a part of history, unfortunately not everyone agrees about that. It's a shame that so many otherwise good coins have been holed. How do the prices compare in buying holed coins vs non-holed ones?

If you look on Ebay, holed coins are cheap, but not as cheap as they "should" be in my opinion. It's probably better to seach through the inventory at coin dealers. I sort of thought that a holed coin should sell for about 1/4 to 1/3 of the price that the coin would cost in the same condition but without the hole. I don't know if this is correct. Holes are major damage, but holed coins are still obviously collectible.

I have found that the 1/3 to 1/4 rule usually applies, unless the coin is AU or better or a key date (in both cases the holed coin is worth less than 1/4 of an unholed example). I figure that my set cost me in the neighborhood of $500.

Funny, several of the coins you holed yourself are the ones I have come across. Clad quarter 1967 was a detector find, clad dime ,also 1967 came out of the candy machine at work and an old jefferson nickel that I've had since I was a kid.

Please poke one large enough to see only the hole and no coin! Sorry, just kidding. :high5:
