Do banks usually close early on New Years eve?

 

Yes. Some at 12, others at 1, many at 3 or 4.

Depends on how busy they typically are.

$940 in dimes over the weekend got me 6 roosies, 1 merc & a '64 canadian.

First box of halves in a couple of years - checked it with my daughter who turns 11 today. We found 3 x 40% (She got two of them!)

 

Bank error!!!

soooo bank called today and said my box of halves were in. this is the first box i've ever ordered. i drove up to bank and they brought the box out to counter. said that would be $500. I pulled out the cash and handed it to them and they said enjoy. i got back in truck and headed out of town. about 5 miles outside of town i cracked open the box with a knife and saw a gold looking reflection. i pulled over and looked and they were gold $1 coins. a whole box of (40 rolls) x $25 rolls.

I said oh crap that is $1000 worth. I didnt know what to do so I just sat there. I decided being the honest person that I am that I better go back and let them know of the error (figuring someone would get fired). they checked their receipt of order and it shows that they definitely ordered halves and not dollars. they also checked the bag it came in and it said halves on the side. the teller said as far as i'm concerned the delivery company is the one that is out $500 since it wasnt our error. she said we might be able to let you keep them but let me check things out. all of the rolls were uncirculated and shiny as could be. i at least want a couple rolls :b8nce: i know they won't be able to give them to me, but i havent heard officially yet. she said for my honesty she will keep all CWR and loose halves off to the side for me to have. she said anything they pull out of circulation they will keep off to the side for me also.

either way it sounds like a win-win

 

That's a heck of a score if they let ya keep it, mhenry. My gut feeling is the delivery company will realize the shortage later and trace it to the bank once the bank asks them about it and either ask them to return the box or pay up the $500 extra so you won't get to keep it.

Props for honesty, too.

 

Wow, the banks really didn't want to give up hardly any of their coin today! I'll keep that in mind for next NYE.

I'll definitely do an end of month. Not sure if I'll do a 2012 review just yet, as my true "annual" date would be the end of Feb. We'll see how bored I get since I don't have to be back to work til Thursday. Happy 2013, hunters! Can't wait to see all of your results!
