Heres my oldest find for looking though rolls found in quarter roll

box 1 dimes - '39, '56D
box 2 dimes - skunk

 

Mission complete 500 silvers from circulation

Dumped $500 at TD and got shorted about $1.50. Cashed out and got a box of dimes. I was at 499 silvers for the year and scored a Straights Settlement 10 cent coin from 1898 in great shape. It has Queen Victoria on the front. That was number 500 for the year. I had to look it up but it's .800 silver and weighs 2.71 grams. I did not think the foreign silver would be my 500th but who cares. Not only was it my 500th but it is also the oldest coin I have pulled from circulation! I'll post a pic later when I get to a PC

That Straights Settlement coin is actually 1896 after getting it under a loupe. Could be a $20 coin it' XF

 

Christmas finds with my niece and her cousin

Over Christmas I bought boxes of pennies (2), nickels (maybe 6) and dimes (8?) and let my niece and her cousin check through them. One box of nickels had 8 war nickels: a better war nickel count than I have ever gotten in one box! They also found 4 buffalo nickels, one very nice, and 4 silver Roosevelt dimes.

I took my niece's cousin out to look for half dollars (with the agreement that we split anything we found). We found only two, but they were great: a 1952 Franklin and a 1935-S Walker! He already had a few Walkers, so he took the Franklin and I took the Walker. I hope he will be a collector for life now!

Before Christmas I found 20 Roosevelt dimes, 2 Mercs, and 10 40%ers. I posted cell phone pictures of the Mercs a few days ago.

I would up with 1281 silver coins for the year, mostly halves. That does not include the 100 Franklins and Walkers in my 9 year old niece's collection that we found together.

 

Last night i searched 2 boxes of nickels

3 wars 1 was ender and a 1950d finally and it was in a same roll with a war it went to my whitman now im just missing 39s i already have one but its in ms condition and i dont want to put it in the album i took it to a dealer and he said it would grade ms63 and is 1939 with 1940 reverse

2 wars and a ender 1936 p buffalo in good shape not bad to find 5 wars in one night
