green 18 has really sparked my interest in the commemorative series. I quickly realized it was an expensive series to try and tackle.
So, I decided to choose my two favorite designs for the type set instead of getting into the entire series.
I decided on Texas and Oregon trail.

I just got the 1935-S Texas. I would like to hear some opinions on grade. I know it's difficult with an image.
My image is a very good representation of the coin in hand. Although, it's a little more lustrous in hand.
    Comments are always welcome.

    thanks,

    greg

    I'd say it's no better than a 63.

If it’s unc as it appears in the pics, maybe 64 – but, looks like something post mint in the fields left of the eagle, so maybe details.

LOL! So, what is that in the field? To the left of the eagles head it looks like an "OS".

Good choice on the two commemorative issues you picked. I think I have to give this MS64 at the very lowest unless the luster in hand hides the ever so slightest rub on the "knees" and "chest" of the eagle and weakness of strike on the left arm of the angel. Probably goes MS65 .... what the heck do I know? Beautiful example! Stunning! Fabulous!

I see what you are referring to. I will chalk it up to shadows, lighting, planchet, or something along those lines.
I don't see it in hand at all. :p

Thank you all for the comments.

Yes Rusty, Ken is certainly a bad influence.

Actually, Greg, myself and others talked about this coin prior to his posting it here, and I'm inclined to think it is a 66 or very close to a 67.

I think it's been whizzed or dipped. Better give it to me for safe keepings. Thanks! :)

Im a complete amateur but my first thought was this is definitely better than a 64 for this type of coin. I think this is a 66.
