Victorinus KIA

    Well this little antoninianus came in the mail today. It is the Roman sucessionist emperor Victorinus a Gaul. He ruled from 268 to 270 AD. He was killed by a roman soldier whose wife he had seduced. The reverse has Salus holding a snake (RIC 67).:devil:

    This is actually better than average for Victorinus who tends to show up with partial legends and weakly struck reverses.

    What I great coin and what a great piece of history. :thumb:

    I always have trouble keeping those pesky usurpers (and usurpers of usurpers) straight in my mind.

    Yes, very nice Ripley. I have found this emperor before, but not in such nice shape. That truly is above average for him.

    I like your coin and have had a few with this reverse. victorinus has some nice coins
