This is by far the best Peace Dollar in my collection. I've gotten some interesting opinions about it on another website. I was wondering what this 1922 Peace Dollar would go for. I know they are the most common.
Would you mind posting the reference for the price that you found? I've tried to judge the coin's grade and guessed it could be an MS-61 or even MS-62. The MS-61 by PCGS standards should go for around $40.00(based on MS-60 price.)
Should I have specified that that's melt value?... OP - since your coin is unc, maybe a couple more bucks.
Looks AU from the photographs, although it's difficult to tell. Attractive in this grade, but not worth too much more than melt.
I would agree with everyone above. the condition might bring a few more bucks than melt, which can be viewed at conflation.com.
I agree with the above as I've been watching EBAY for some time now and sometimes you list a coin you feel is better than average and it just won't sell unless you want to give it away or as stated above sell at melt value things (coins) are just not selling now but some are selling at give away prices that's why you gotta watch ebay.... from the pictures looks like a keeper even with the high mintage it's still a keeper... If you decide to sell it let me know ... Grampa:dead-horse: :thumb:
i came to the conclusion that people are afraid of b&m shops because they lack knowledge or do not live near any. my local stores usually buy a dollar or two under melt and sell a dollar or two over, i couldnt imagine spending $12 over melt for a common average dollar
I see what might appear to be circular scratches on the obverse from the lighting. If you provide better pictures, I'd have to say this coin has been improperly cleaned at one time as well. Definitely worth melt if that's the case.
If you live in a sparsely populated area there is a good chance that there isn't any B&M nearby and if there is they might not have any competition so they might have higher prices. If your nearest B&M is 30+ miles away then Ebay might be the best option for small purchases. Also some states charge sales tax on these purchases which also pushes up B&M prices. So B&M viability is highly dependent on each persons region.
i can agree to this. i just have always been near stores or flea markets, perhaps i am on of the lucky ones
I'll let you know if I sell it. The only way I might sell my Peace dollars is if I find a Morgan that atracts me than having those silver dollars. Morgans appeal to me more than Peace dollars do.
