Actually, better than I could have expected. I would have restarted this before Christmas except they postponed the operation. So by the time three weeks was up, it was Christmas time. Thanks for asking!

Tough to grade for this one. At initial glance it seemed like a solid 66, if not a 67 (the reverse is virtually flawless), but on closer inspection there seems to be either a strong rub or friction marks on Lincoln's check/chin. Other than that the fields are pretty clean. I'm going with a 66.

BTW, do I accurately spy a S/S/S RPM on that coin?

It is not the S/S/S and it is not the S/S listed as RPM 1 on Lincoln Cent Resource. However, it might be doubled to the west, but it is so fat I cannot tell for sure.

Interesting. Perhaps a new RPM? I swear I can see a strong hook serif protruding from the west of the "S".

I am pretty sure all you are seeing is the light off a deeply punched MM. Sorry, but I do not have a camera equipped to pick up much more detail.

I tried using a couple loupes to take some closer pictures. I really doubt there is any doubling.

She is doing amazingly well. she got rid of the walker in about 2 weeks and the best I was told to hope for was 3 week and I was expecting worse since she is also a diabetic.

I think it just was the thumbnail picture. I didn't enlarge the picture at first, but when I did the hook "disappeared". I could see a possible S/S West but can't tell if what I think is separation is only the light.

    Here's what I'm thinking....

Fields almost immaculate. Luster looks strong as well. No obvious marks on the rim visible, although the slab obfuscates it a bit. First impression of the fields, luster and overall eye appeal -- it looks like a 66 or 67.

Ahh, but how to handle the light marks running vertically on old Abe? That is the key question! I'd say these marks subtract at least one grade and maybe two. So we're anywhere from a 64 to 66.

The lighting looks a bit harsh, and RLM has used two lights to take the photos, both off to the side. This accentuates any vertical marks when you take photos, and I suspect the marks are a bit less bright under more normal lighting conditions closer to 12 o'clock.

Reverse doesn't hold this coin back. To the contrary, it looks a grade or two higher -- typical, but you have to check.

So I'm left choosing between a 64 and 66. Given the top pop PCGS coin is 67RD, and a 64 is like a $10 coin -- you can probably rule out those two grades. So, we're likely left choosing between a 65 and 66 RD. Frankly, neither 65 or 66 would surprise me, but...

Call me an optimist, but I tend to give coins the benefit of the doubt and err on the high side -- particularly if they appear to be attractive and eye appealing as this coin does -- so I'm going to go with 66 RD.

    Final answer.

Hope I didn't overthink this one. lol

Great news, Dick. I'm happy to hear that. I've been thinking of you both. :)

I'm still learning so I'll go out on a limb. If that is a rub or friction marks on cheek & chin (& possibly shoulder) wouldn't that preclude this coin from receiving an MS grade. I'll say Genuine/Details
