Well, your guess would be absolutely, 100%, completely wrong. I don't like to sell on ebay, but I also sell on ebay and I always respond to questions. It isn't that hard to incorporate a response into customer service. I'm also a bit surprised you would feel like you could determine my business plan from my short statement in this thread.

Stop the personal and political comments! Lets not end the year with infractions, they do carry over.

    Tom,

I know that you have your own website that you use to sell coins and I can't ever recall you talking about selling coins on E-Bay in my years of reading your posts on coin forums. That is more the reason for my assumption more than your statement. Furthermore, my statement was meant to be hyperbolic in nature.

But like I said, I answer every question posed to me on E-Bay, even the ridiculous ones. But if I had a cheaper and more limited inventory and sold on E-Bay as a secondary source of income, I could easily see the validity for not answering questions. And based on the OP's conduct on this coin forum, he is exactly the type of person whose questions I would want to avoid.

It's true that I don't talk about selling coins on ebay and much of that reason is because I try to avoid that venue as a primary sales tool. My website and BST threads are where I like to sell since folks do not have to pay for ebay or PayPal if sales occur in those places. However, I do list coins on ebay, though not on a continuous basis.

I also agree with you that many (most?) questions I receive on ebay are real head-scratchers including a recent one for a gem type coin in a PCGS holder with a CAC sticker on it where the ebay user appeared to be certain that the coin was EF or maybe AU even though it was graded MS65. I simply responded in a polite manner and suggested that they buy the coin to view it in-hand even if they knew they were going to ship it back to me for a refund. They did not respond.

I have a toned NGC MS67 SLQ listed on E-Bay for about 2X price guide. I guess the guy didn't like my price so he decided to try to annoy me by submitting an offer of $20. Price guide is over $2K. Since I have an auto-decline setup for ridiculous offers such as his, he was forced to ask me a question in order to complete his goal of annoying me. He asked my why his offer was declined. I told him that I only review serious offers, pointed out that I had some Washington Quarters for sale in that price range, and blocked him from buying my coins.

I use the auto-decline feature, too, but thus far have not had someone go the extra mile to ask a question after being declined.

I think some E-Bay buyers take toning premiums personally. That example was one that I could post on this forum. Most of the questions/comments that I get about my highly priced toned coins are not suitable to post on this forum as they are extremely rude and usually contain profanity.
