i'm assuming that this is 1837 but with all the damage could it the "7" be something else? what would you guys value this at... not that i'm going to sell it though :)

Wow that coin has seen alot of life. Hard to put a value on it due to its problems.

    Cool find though.

I really wouldn't mind finding something like this in my change. Nice find! I couldn't really tell you the value of it though.

A quick search of completed auctions on eBay shows that low grade damaged 1837 seated dimes (similar to yours) sell in the $5 to $8 range.

That's a nice find, That coin must've travelled thousands of miles from hand-to-hand. And still possibly worth more than five dollars.

yeah it's crazy that he found it and that it's an 1837 , i've never seen anyone find one of these in circulation, someone must've spent a collection, makes me wonder what else there may have been. i know the ones with no stars are worth more but value isn't an issue since it's one of my oldest coins that i wish to keep

I have some Americans silver coins that are very worn, i just keep them because I like them. it's good to have real objects from that time, so long ago, That have been made so well And of good quality materials
