I have this 1879 Morgan dollar, but it appears to be polished. Even so, I was wondering what the worth of the coin would be.

I was wondering if I should dip this in acitone and if that would remove the polish or leave as is.

I don't think the coin has polish on it, rather it has been polished. I wouldnt bother dipping it because it is only worth melt maybe a dollar more or less.

Once a coin is polished; it's polished. There is no dipping off of the damage that polishing has done. The piece would be worth its weight in silver.

It would make a nice pocket piece .
