The prices for Ron Paul Dollars have skyrocketed since the removal of Norfeds off of ebay. Anyone here got any Ron Pauls? The 2008 looks the best in my opinion but the prices are way beyond what I care to pay. I shoulda, woulda, coulda when I had the chance. Anyways, I have a couple of questions for y'all. 1. Do you think the creation of these Ron Paul Dollars helped him in his presidential bid or not? 2. Bernard von Nothaus faces up to 20 years and he is 68 years old, that means he's gonna be a very old man even if he only serves 10 years. Do you think he should stick around and serve his sentence or do you wonder why he hasn't fled the US already? Just wondering. :thumb:
I have some Ron Pauls, i think they are 2010 and not Norfeds. One is the 1 oz round and the other 3 are I think quarter or half ounce rounds. I just liked Ron Paul a whole lot and decided to get the coins. Plus he was a member of my fraternity back in the day, but i forget which chapter he came from. On a side note, Harry Truman was a Lambda Chi too....i wonder if theres any coins commemorating him
Well I dont think it hurt him by any means, and im sure it helped spread his message of sound money based on something real. I mean you actually had a real piece of metal that had value, an image of the man leading that particular movement, and something tangible to look at and hold. I dont necessarily think the proceeds from the sale helped him all that much if at all, but the coins themselves and what and who they represented sure didnt hurt his message or image in my eyes
I figured you had at least one. :thumb: Look at what this guy on the bay is asking for, crazy money. Glad to see they're selling so well but I think he's pushing it and may have to lower his expectations a bit. Time will tell. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Ron-Pa...677?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d08086125
I have the one ounce Campaign for Liberty dollar and the other 3 look like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-RON-PA...50969547112?pt=Bullion_US&hash=item23267c7968 I tried to get my hands on the 1/10th gold coin with his portrait but never ended up with one
i have a 2003 $5 coin. i am not even sure when i got it. i just noticed it the other day as i was going through my coins
No. As far as I see it, political tokens are collected by people who support a particular candidate, or by people that collect political memorabilia. The message of sound currency is a good one, but if someone changed their mind on that matter based on a token, that person would be too stupid to vote. But who knows? There are a lot of folks like that today. But I'm stopping there. I like this forum, and would prefer not to get banned.
Thats not entirely fair, and heres why: You have a coin collector, he goes into his local shop and sees several 1 ounce rounds for sale. He likes the one with Ron Paul due to design. Goes home and examines it more, does some research on Paul and finds out he is aligned with his policies and what he stands for. Now is that person too stupid to vote? I should think not, and thats my point. Being on a coin just gave him more exposure by different venues. Was the impact of being on a coin beneficial to his running, that i dont know, but i sure dont see how it hurt him if even 1 person turned to his policies after what I just described. BTW I am NOT picking a fight of any sort, just giving you an example of where your logic didnt work. Which is why I seldom deal in absolutes because in this world we live in anything is possible and things change every second. Another example: My girlfriend asks me what my favorite color is pretty frequently, and my answer is always the same: it depends. It depends on how im feeling and my mood and if i think i look better in that color or not, and believe me that changes daily.
Well, yes. If you put it that way, it's perfectly plausible. I would applaud that person for doing their research.
I don't think they were minting the Ron Pauls in 2003 but I could be wrong. Must be a Norfed, does it look like this one? :thumb:
I have a few Ron Pauls that are norfeds, a copper and a silver one. I haven't gotten any of the non-norfeds yet, but will at some point. I like Ron Paul and his message. His son, Rand Paul, is featured on some AOCS copper rounds as well.
I like Ron Paul as well, he sure doesn't mince words. As far as Rand Paul goes, well that's a different story. He's a bit much for me. I don't think any of his dollars will be worth anything in months to come but ya' never know. I think it's really cool how BVNH minted the Tea Party Dollar, Peace Dollar, Freedom Dollar, Norfed Dollar, then added States to the reverses. If he didn't have such a strange idea of competing with the US governments money he would be one very rich and respected individual.
Of course not. I was just asking if anyone thought the sale of the silver Ron Paul Dollars and all the funds donated to his campaign helped him in any way. I think it did help him, his problem was the Republican party didn't help him much because they thought they had the right man with Mutt what's his face.
I hadn't heard of these dollars. They must be legal tender in New Texas, Galaxy of Libertarius where the billion tiny Ron Pauls reside.
I don't have one yet but they look like this copper one except they're silver. Ron Paul actually has a ton of supporters, most are in Idaho, Michigan and other like minded militia areas.
