Not sure about "low cost" some railroad notes are pretty expensive. BTW I believe I have the cousin of your note. :smile
Not alot of recent auction wins, got a nice shot this weekend but the mail is gonna be thin the next few days. I do have a new collecting avenue though that should yield some nice and otherwise less common notes, so hopefully everyone will enjoy when I get them in. Here's another pickup I got Friday, you know if it's lime I have to go after it...
icerain - I meant low cost versus what I've paid for other old notes. Funny you should post that nice $10 note. I won one of those last night! That one cost me more ($92) than the $2 that I posted ($42). I'd like to get the $1 and $5 to complete the set, but need to take a break from spending. Here's the $10 I won last night (seller's pics):
Just got these series 2009 $2 New York Star notes from a short run of 128,000. I've only seen these in pairs....so far.
My first Civil War era note. State of North Carolina fifty cent note, 1866. I like the ship on it. excuse the poor mobile picture.
judt pulled this guy from my bank,, unreal that there is a 1969 floating around! someone must have been short x mas money and spent there old stash
Well, not much in the way of new notes to report, got a couple left but we'll mix things up with this... got these as stocking stuffers my kids, they think my hobby is lame but whatevah... couldn't pass these up, especially since I also got them funny T-shirts as stocking stuffers too...
Well, the auction drought continues at least on US notes, have some dang ferener notes coming but might be a while, and I haven't sniffed a win since being the underbidder 4 days ago on a 1882BB $5 (would have been my first 1882 national, sigh...). Come on mailman! Here's a Greek I got in a few days ago - yes, deja vu, as I have now upgraded this note TWICE. Had to as the price was right... three of this type, each one better than the last, all within 5 weeks. I need to seek treatment...
In yesterday's mail: Only 4,888 of the Double Lucky Money note sets were produced. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing takes great pride in presenting to you this $2 Double Lucky Money note set, the newest addition to our Lucky Money Collection. This set features, for the first time ever, two crisp uncirculated Series 2003A $2 notes, with serial numbers beginning with "8888," to symbolize good fortune and "2008," to commemorate the New Year. These notes also feature serial numbers with the last four digits matching. In many Asian communities, the number 8 signifies wealth and prosperity. Wishing you success, wealth and fortune with the enclosed uncirculated Federal Reserve Notes. May this $2 Double Lucky Money note set bring you success and may all your wished be fulfilled in the New Year.
Underbidder underbidder UNDERBIDDER!!! Gah I can't win anything these days. Oh well - I've had enough good luck this last year to last a collecting lifetime, so I shan't complain too loudly. Here's a note I didn't buy, but got free with that lime green Cleveland I posted a couple days ago. It's a Japanese occupation note from Malaysia, often called a banana note. Hey, who argues with free?
The 1, 2 and 5 arrived today, to go along with the 10 I got earlier. That completes the set. My plan is to put the set in a float frame so both sides can be visible.
