Have had this a few years after receiving it in change. It's a 1984 Lincoln penny (dark one in pictures) that is noticeable larger than a normal penny. Any ideas on how this could happen? Oh, there are no indications of "squishing"; all of the penny's details appear to be in proportion. Some posters at Treasurenet.com thought it could have been in a fire at some point. Thanks.
Is it thinner than a regular cent? Probably beaten between two pieces of leather, creating a thinner coin with a larger diameter and keeping all of the details.
Hey, I believe you're correct. I looked more closely at the coin sideways and you can see that the rim has been flattened.
