    thanks for the link.i collect all kinds of coins and info to me is king.from what i have read i believe you should strive for au in half cents.i have a number of them the exact number i don't know because once i fill a safe i usually put it in my vault and start a new one.every now and then i bring them out and enjoy looking at past purchases.

    Commercial AU or even MS grade (EAC grade EF and AU) half cents are affordable until you get to earlier than 1825. Then you need to drop down a grade or so (unless you like to spend 4 figures/coin). For 18th century half cents, drop another grade or so.

    For pricing (based on EAC grades) Copper Quotes by Robinson (CQR) is the bible. The major early copper dealers base their pricing on CQR.

    i agree that some are a little expensive and yes 18th are a different subject along with some of the other hard dates.thanks for your imput too.
