What's an average grade 1864 CSA $30 worth?

Implying that what I'm looking at would be a fake?

 

Explicitly stating it. A photo or link might give me more information to see if perhaps you are looking at an odd-denomination obsolete note (which would not be a CSA note).

Probably just some funny money to get people to buy the dime.

 

It is an interest coupon cut off of a bond. It is not a piece of paper money.

Yes those coupons were on a sheet of perhaps 20, that were cut out and redeemed when due.
