This coin and six others I will attempt to post tonite are not (yet) in my possession. All the pics were taken in haste a couple months ago during a family health crisis. Better pics will be available in mid-January, if this forum finds that necessary or desirable.

As with the others, I have no knowledge of authenticity. All came from a long dead uncle, into my Dad's hands...I'll have them soon.

All your comments are most welcome...even bad news. Thanks

The weight of this Durango 8 Reales is supposed to be 27.07 grams. The weight is a counterfeit diagnostic. Your coin does look to be cast or possibly has environmental damage resulting from a salvaged shipwreck.

I agree, or horribly dinged up. To tell the difference without a weight it would be best to see it in hand.

However, since it was found with the cast Pillar dollar you posted elsewhere, that would strongly lead me to the belief it is also cast. like the pillar dollars, these are heavily forged. Go to any asian market and you can find these, pillars, US trade dollars, British and French trade dollars all in cast copies cheaply.
