All I am seeing is machine doubling, which is flat and shelf-like. An RPM just that-is a repunched mintmark...it will not be flat like MD is. Keep up the hunt!
Would this also be a grease filled die? I thought this was something because of how the is not straight across like pictures of MD i've seen, and the center is almost filled like it was stamped again or grease interfered with the die. Also I looked at the angle of the top and I figured that a MD would show on the bottom too. It just looked different and thought I had something, But thanks again.
I'm not detecting a grease-filled die anywhere. And MD does not have to show on the op and bottom of the mintmark. It could be isolated MD,and only found on the top of the mintmark.
Is the die worn such that the center of the D is not punched? Just for my own info how does MD happen isolated from the rest of the coin surface?
When you en-large the photo of the date it looks like there may be some doubling, not MDD, on the 6 and the 9...note the notching. Larry Nienaber
Does not look like a doubled die to me. Could be a lighting effect or engraving doubling, which was common in the 60s.
