I've collected both. But definetely prefer the Morgan. For me, it was a much greater challenge to complete a nice set of Morgans.
No doubt. But I'd bet you could find a whole lot more ugly Morgans simply because there are so many more of them.
I don't think so, I used to own a 1924 that looked just like Dan's. Gem surfaces with gorgeous golden toning an blazing luster.
I actually like the design of the Peace Dollar better but it is hard to argue against the Morgan Dollar. The Morgan series has just about everything that any coin collector could ever want. They can be affordable yet there are some very rare and valuable key dates. They are available in every grade from P01 to MS69. There are so many varieties that those collectors would never get bored. They cover every base with luster from frosty to PL to DMPL. And absolutely nobody could ever dispute that the Morgan Dollar is the king of eye appeal with respect to toning. In the end, I had to compare the highest graded Morgan to the highest graded Peace Dollar I have ever owned to decide. And while I sold the MS66 Peace Dollar for MS66+ money, I still had to choose the Morgan Dollar in this thread.
I collect the Peace dollars because there's fewer years and to me its a prettier coin. Although the Morgan is interesting with the style of lettering and stuff.
