Sorry HD. I tried too reply sooner, but I was helping out at the soup kitchen, then I helped an senior citizen carry their groceries home, lost my left shoe in the snow and brought down a kitten from a tree for a very sick little girl. I'll try to hurry next time.
If you want to make it up to me JB, you could help me figure out the date. The info Detecto posted says Nepalese calendar, but the numbers don't seem to match those on the Krause foreign date page.
Let's see ... the sheet with the coin info is from here http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces14275.html , and the Time Machine actually says "Result: 1891 - Your coin was minted in the year 1948 of the Bikram Samvat era (VS)." Now try the same thing with your coin. It is not easy (well, for somebody like me who has no clue about this script) to "decipher" the digits, but with a little guessing and comparing I get this: "Result: 1893 - Your coin was minted in the year 1950 of the Bikram Samvat era (VS)." :thumb: Pretty impressive how fast members of Coin Talk are able to ID obscure (in my mind) coins. Good job!
I don't see anything that looks like the third digit, which you identify as a 5, Christian. That's what's stumping me. I'll accept your answer though since I can't figure out anything else either.
