Post-Mint Damage or flawed planchet?

Recently acquired this 1868B German States/Prussia 2 Pfennig in a lot of world coins. I noticed the rim has some damage, but it doesn't look like normal rim damage that I see, since the dots around the edge don't seem flattened.

What do you guys think it is? PMD or some flaw in the minting process?

    Thanks

PMD. Post Mint Damage. The strike in the area missing metal should be stronger. either that or it split off after striking.

Hard to say but I think it could be where a lamination peeled away, or it could be struck through a lamination from another planchet. PMD is a possibility (As there is other PMD to the coin) but I don't think it is likely.

Looks like a lamination, IMO. :thumb:
