1832 CBH Small or Large Letters ?

    1832 CBH Small or Large Letters ?

    3 diff pics of the same coin. What are the markers for small or large letters ?

    Small Letters

    The "Large Letters" variety is easily attributed by a heavy die break at the eagle's left wing. To my knowledge, all examples of this die marriage (O.101) have this break present.

    I don't believe any "prime" die states of the O.101 exist... so if you ever come across an 1832 half that doesn't have this die break, it's a "Small Letters" variety.

    Brian is correct. No surprise.

    Here are examples of a large and small letters. Note the die break on the reverse of the large letters.
