They are treasure hunters who search at night in known historical sites...and some unknown.Basically treasure hunters and don't give a damn.
nor give a monetary claim to the landowner, as mandated by british law. the term, as i have heard it, only applies to british citizens. however, i do not live in great britain, nor am i under commonwealth rule (my freedom was won in 1781, but it began in 1775, and confirmed in a document on july 4, 1776) so i do not know the current british law, nor the term "nighthawk" 100%. however, i do get the gist of what it is.
Why am I being classed as a "nighthawk"??????????????????????????????????!!!! and how do I not "give a damn"????? Don't be so stupid, look at what the British and Ashmolean museums have taken from the world and you're complaining at someone who has found a few hundred pounds worth of stuff, they rest is what I've paid for and to add I've never found anything that is incredibly rare, most of the stuff I find is old pieces of broken lead, broken toy soldiers, ring pulls, bullets and so on...things that are worthless.
when i was growing up i lived near an old WW2 POW camp, which had been deserted, as kids we would scramble through a hole on the barbed wire and play around the huts, we found lots of items which had been associated with the german prisoners such as badges, buttons and coins. i still have some of these things to this day............perhaps i was a nighthawk too?
