aaaggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhbare bare fingers!! can't really make it out due to the glare on my screen but the obverse portrait doesn't look right.
from the pictures you show, i would say yours is fake, counterfeit, not real. a genuine abbot of reading pence is rare/scarce.
i edited your pic and circled 3 areas that concern me. going from left to right... 1. is the crown bifoliate or trifoliate? 2. the mark looks funny, possibly altered or added. 3. the line passing through the "R" is off from legit pieces i have seen.
if the crown is bifoliate, or 2 prongs, it is 100% fake. the bifoliate crown wasn't used until 1301 a.d. a genuine abbot of reading has a trifoliate crown, as it was minted in 1279 a.d. there are other markers that make me believe your coin is a fake.
acid in your skin can damage a coin if held in this way by leaving an indelible finger print on it's surface.
I have never seen an ancient coin that is damaged from finger prints. I would assuming medieval are the same. Do you have any information to show ancient/medieval coins are subject to fingerprints like modern coins are? Maybe I am wrong and medieval coins are different than ancients.
