If you had to choose one or the other to collect, which would you choose, would you choose the Morgan dollar or the Seated Liberty dollar?
Seated Lib. Dollar since my cat even has some morgan dollars lying around in her litter box. *cat reference is sarcasm for how common morgans are.
Seated liberties just look so much better than morgans (not that I would be dissapointed getting a morgan ), so I vote seated liberties.
When I think of dollar coins, I think of Morgans. That being said, I don't know which to vote for...someone should post a little propaganda.
In spite of the fact that I have about 180 certified Morgans, I voted for / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Morgans. Fooled ya! Chris
No, it was slabbed about 2 years ago, but I think it would look real nice in one. I actually just got a retro holder in the mail a few days ago. I like 'em, but I wish they didn't use the prongs, imo, it would look much better if the coin was flush with the black insert.
The reason that I thought it might be is because I saw those black tabs on the rim. I guess you "painted" the white tabs out. I think you're right, though. It would look better flush (like it was when they first issued them!) Chris
The opposite more like. I just put the vote back into a tie. I do like the SL reverse. But the Morgan is so cool, I forget what its reverse looks like, sometimes.
Not so fast...I chose Seated's because they would be of a challenge and I'm this close to selling off my remaining (4) Morgans.
I voted Morgan for a similar reason that I vote against Barbers. Although I like the design elements of the Seated Liberty, there are too many denominations that share the same basic design. If this were a comparison between the Morgan design and the Seated Liberty design, I'd give my vote to the Seated. However, this is a vote comparing the collectible nature of the Morgan Dollar v the Seated Liberty Dollar. When the question is whittled down to that specific pairing, my hand is forced to tick off Lady Liberty, a la Morgan.
They are definitely a challenge. Everytime I see a nice one, it goes for over $1,000. Not many people can afford to collect these. Morgan - The Cowboy Dollar
