You can bet they will pick design #3 for the Ohio one - the lousiest design.

i LOVE the great basin design. the bristlecone pines are so majestic and can live up to 5,000+ years. i still can't believe that a scientist from UNC cut down possibly the oldest living tree back in the 60s. arghhh ...

It looks hard to strike too (with all the leaf detail). The fireworks above that building on the one quarter (way to lazy to pay attention) looks cool!

Thanks for the update on the 2013 designs. I have to go with the Great Basin as my favorite for next year.

Also, thanks for the 2014 candidates. Finally, we will have a year when all of the 5 coins actually represent national parks.

I initially thought it was kind of lazy that South Dakota was going to pick Mount Rushmore again, having already used the design on their state quarter. But I love the unique perspective of the design they chose for it. Not only does it depict the finishing touches of the creation, but it helps give Mount Rushmore a scale you don't get with the state quarter (or even the commemoratives from 1991).

I have been waiting for the release of the Fort McHenry design since this program was announced and I have to say that I am really disappointed with the design. I think its mediocre at best, but still, one of the more attractive designs of the year. I had really hoped that they would do an aerial view that showed off an oversized flag and the fort's signature architecture.

I hate to sound like a complainer but with the Fort McHenry design being mediocre, the only other design that I find appealing is the Bristlecone Pine. I'll be surprised if Ohio's design gains any popularity-is just plain terrible. The Mt Rushmore design really detracts from the beauty of the monument by portraying people building it.
