t seems like they are coming out of the woodwork, i can just imagine what will happen when some poor soul brings in his "investment" to a coin shop to sell, only to be told he was taken.

one of my local coin shops had a box full of star grading service coins, some one just dumped them off in disgust (they where being sold super low price, almost as a joke)

i wish the ANA or someone could do something about this, its really bad for the hobby.

Wow, their standards are even more liberal than most self slabbers.

Someone can, and that's the person who had been taken. Unfortunately, most people don't care or don't think it's worth their time "cooperating" with the FTC and attorney general's office. many times also, the conmplaint is valid against the seller of the coin likenning the grading to industry standard, thus resulting in fraud or intent to defraud.

Information and education are the best defense against fraud and scam. I can buy me a "good" horse one of two ways around here. One, is to spend thousands of dollars, pay for the boarding and care, and maybe even enter it a few shows throughout the years. The other way is to go down to the feed store and purchase a few hundred dollars of particular kinds of dog food. :goofer:

You get what you pay for! :thumb:

I have seen several auctions for coins that are insanely over graded go for PCGS or NGC money, its insane! I sometimes wonder what these people are thinking (or not thinking at all..)

Have to love the MS66 Morgans graded by these self slabbers going for 64-65 money. Most are pretty obvious AU's too.

If you have money to burn then be my guest and bid on those. Doesn't effect me at all.

I have been looking into ms 64 morgans lately, and thanks to threads like this if I see a coin that is not graded by the big 4, I don't even bother to look at the coin. Knowledge is power. Thanks everybody!Kiss
