Hello Everyone, I have been searching many banks in my area (Macomb County north of Detroit) for rolls of the new nickels (Peace and Keelboat) and newer state quarters (Florida and Texas). Has anyone in the Detroit area found any? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Try the casino's. I too have been looking for the new nickels with no luck. May head to the casino's myself.
I live near Foxwoods Casino and the banks are great for the quarters ,a couple days after the mint ones come.but none of them have the nickels
Its a pain, I was lucky to find rolls of 2004 pennies at a local Quik Stop.... Man, the pennies this year are awesome looking!
I'm in northern Michigan and I see VERY few new nickles in ciculation. I have heard millions have been produced but I think everybody is hoarding them. David
You probably see more Canadian nickels than the new keelboat nickels! What I did this year is to just tack on a roll set of the nickels to my Proof Set orders from the mint. It costs a little more than double face ($8.95 for the P and D roll set), but saves me the hassle of finding a bank that has the new Nickels.
Well I tell ya, here in northern Michigan, Canadian money in your change is quite normal. I cashier and I always see tons of pennies, quarters, and nickels in my cash register! I even got a jar of Canadian coins I pull out of my change. David
