i have looked and looked at pictures and just don't get it. is this a small or large date 1970s? thanks so very much for any input! Walter
People make it way too hard, and usually it is when one only has a small photo section to go by. Go to this page and look at the first illustration showing the small and the large side by side. Since most you will find will be large dates, look at it first. Notice how the lower tip of the "9" loop points to an area between the lower 1/4th of the "7" vertical and slightly below the bottom of the "7", whereas it points to the middle area of vertical in the small date. Also if the cent doesn't show much wear, look at the joining of the top horizontal bar of the "7" with the top of the vertical bar. In the Large date there is a crease there, in the small date cent there is not. There are some others , but they tend to confuse people. The above 2 will work 99% of the time.
