I think the old Chile coins are a beautiful design. I was very surprised though when I bought a group of them on eBay and tried to sell my doubles and no one is interested. I would think other people would appreciate these coins like I do.

 

They are great coins, but I never would have given them consideration until becoming a member of this site. I was too stuck on U.S. coins and despite the beauty foreign coins may have, I would not have let myself purchase them.

The T&T reminded me of catalogging my other latin coins.

 

a neat owl that the RCM put out in 2000. i got a scratch on it at 12 o'clock. not sure how i did that, but i still like the coin. great execution in the design.

I like the design and I like the Perth Mint, but never really liked the painted coins. Every collector has his or her own preferences. Maybe I'm stuck in the past and need to get with the times.

 

Actually this is my first painted coin. The only reason I got it is because I am a parakeet lover. I had them my entire life and I love everything about them. They're just so beautiful and I think this coin captures that pretty well.

 

That it does. I'm not knocking it by any means.

 

Frigate birds

 

Actually the Perth Mint is doing a "birds of Australia" series of 5 coins. So far two were released with 3 more coming. I originally just intended to buy the parakeet one but I now think I'm going to go for all five of them.
